Chamber

The French gunsmith of the protocol

“Elegance, gentlemen. Even when it comes to killing.”

THE STORY OF CHAMBER

Vincent Fabron, alias Chamber, is the only French agent on the VALORANT roster and probably the hardest to pin down morally. A gunsmith of genius, he designs the weapons he carries onto the field himself, and he makes sure it shows.

His displayed elegance hides a far murkier relationship with his own trade. Chamber has sold his talent to several backers before joining the protocol, and nothing suggests he has stopped. He collaborates, he delivers, he collects. The question of whose side he is really on has never received a clear answer, which deeply irritates some of his teammates.

On the field, he embodies a deliberate contradiction: he is a sentinel who refuses to play defensively. Where Killjoy sets up machines and Cypher lays traps, Chamber settles on a long angle with a weapon he drew himself and waits for someone to make the mistake of crossing it.

CHAMBER'S ABILITIES

C

Trademark

Chamber places a trap that scans for visible enemies in range, then creates, after a short delay, a field that slows the players caught inside it.

Q

Headhunter

Chamber equips a heavy pistol fitted with an aim-down sight.

E

Rendezvous

Chamber places a teleport anchor on the ground and can instantly teleport to it while in range. The anchor can be picked up and redeployed.

X

Tour de Force

Chamber summons an overpowered custom sniper rifle that kills any enemy with a direct hit; every kill leaves behind a field that slows the players inside it.

HOW TO PLAY CHAMBER

01
Play the long angles, not the closed sites

Chamber holds nothing with utility: he holds with his line of sight. On a tight site where everything happens at close range, you lose most of his value. Systematically look for the long distances, the ones where your Headhunter and your ultimate make the difference before the opponent gets into spray range.

02
Place your anchor before you peek, never after

Rendezvous only saves you if it is already in place. Set it on your fallback position, then push up to take your angle. The player who places the anchor once the duel has started dies during the animation. It is the first thing to make automatic with this agent.

03
Headhunter is an upgraded Sheriff, train on it

Many players buy the Headhunter and waste it by firing too fast. It is a precision weapon, not a spray weapon: one shot, one reset, one shot. Spend ten minutes in the practice range before taking it into competitive, the return on investment is immediate on an economy round.

04
Tour de Force turns a lost round around

The ultimate gives you the equivalent of an Operator without paying for it. Its best use is not the full buy round where you already have a good weapon, but the eco round where your team has nothing. A single long angle held well with Tour de Force can flip a round everyone had given up on.

THE VALORANT SENTINELS

ROLE: SENTINEL

Experts in defense and area lockdown. Seven agents built to hold a site, watch the flanks and make the enemy pay dearly for every meter they take.

EVERYTHING ABOUT CHAMBER IN VALORANT

Chamber is the only French agent in Valorant and one of the most atypical in the game. Officially classed as a sentinel, he does not play at all like the other agents of the role: where Killjoy and Cypher hold a site with their utility, Chamber holds it with his personal weapons and his ability to fall back instantly. That hybrid identity makes him a formidable agent in the hands of a precise player, and a very poor choice for someone looking for a defensive role with low mechanical demands. Added in November 2021, he went through several waves of adjustments that sharply reduced his early dominance without taking away his value on open maps.

No, and it is important to know that before locking him in. A player picking a sentinel is usually looking for a role where utility makes up for imperfect aim. Chamber works exactly the other way around: his kit contains only one real defensive tool, the rest consists of weapons and a teleport. Without shooting precision, he brings almost nothing to his team. To discover the role, Sage then Killjoy are far more relevant choices; Chamber becomes interesting once the mechanics are solid.

At release, Chamber combined firepower superior to every other agent with mobility that meant he was almost never punished for bad positioning. That combination made him dominant in competitive play, to the point of appearing in nearly every professional composition. Riot therefore progressively reduced the range and number of his teleports, adjusted his trap and reworked his costs. He remains playable and effective, but now demands far more deliberate positioning.

He is at his best on maps offering long, clear sightlines, where his Headhunter and his ultimate can do their work before the opponent gets within assault rifle range. Conversely, on compact maps made of short corridors and close angles, he loses his main advantage and ends up less useful than a classic sentinel with real defensive utility.

Vincent Fabron is a French gunsmith who designs every weapon he uses himself. His writing rests on a carefully maintained moral ambiguity: he worked for several backers before joining the VALORANT Protocol, and nothing clearly establishes that he has broken all of his previous commitments. That gray area, combined with his displayed elegance and his taste for profit, makes him one of the most intriguing characters on the roster.
