The Story Cinematic analysis

DUALITY

The pivotal cinematic. It turns a local attack into a war between two worlds, and finally puts a face on the assailants of Venice.

The third video produced, and beyond doubt the most important one. There is a lot to learn from it, above all thanks to the comments of David Nottingham, creative director of the game. The action takes place right after the Venice attack (the Duelists prologue), either the next day or a few days later.

THE KEY STORY BEATS REVEALED BY DUALITY

The cinematic reads as a sequence: every scene adds a piece, and the last one overturns everything that came before it.

The incident and the responsibility of Kingdom

The press and the politicians suspect radianite of being behind the incident (or the disaster). Kingdom is pointed at but denies any link with the catastrophe. We learn that Kingdom, thanks to its radianite program, covers 75 % of the energy needs of the planet.

The intervention at Bind

Killjoy is in trouble at Bind, in Morocco. While she waits for reinforcements, Phoenix and Viper join her aboard a military aircraft able to hover in place. They come across a device, the Spike, about to go off. It is a discovery for them, and Killjoy has to act fast to defuse it.

A confrontation with a cloneRevelation

After shots are fired from a distance, Phoenix chases an assailant, and discovers that the man is a clone of himself. Viper steps in and pushes the attacker back.

The debriefing after the action

Once the area is secure and the Spike defused, the team gets ready to leave. Phoenix, shaken by the confrontation, is looking for answers. Viper promises to check with Brimstone for more information.

The clones and their agenda

After his escape, the clone of Phoenix is taken to task by Jett for his failure. A Viper, most likely a clone as well, lays out their plan to deploy the Spike with a team.

The final revelationTurning point

The cinematic closes on the sight of a second Earth, which suggests that parallel worlds exist.
