Visit →The universe of Valorant does not come down to a simple tactical FPS. Behind every match, every map and every agent sits a mythology woven over the years by Riot Games. The lore is built in a fragmented way: cinematics, in-game dialogue, environmental clues scattered across the maps, emails and voice messages found in the office of Brimstone at the Range.
What makes this story so particular is that it is never handed to you in one piece. You have to assemble the fragments, cross-check the clues, interpret the dialogue between agents to piece the plot back together. And at the heart of all this, one fundamental opposition structures the whole: two Earths, Alpha and Omega, bound by the same founding event but locked in a conflict with potentially catastrophic consequences.
Some entries are full deep dives, others simple fragments of a few lines. That is not a flaw: it is the real state of what Riot has sown on each subject. When there are only three clues, we give three rather than stretch them artificially. This page grows as the game delivers new material.
The concepts that build the world of Valorant. They can be read in any order, each one shedding light on the others.
The founding event. A cataclysm of mysterious origin releases an unknown energy and fractures reality. Everything else follows from it.
The resource that appeared with First Light and became the dominant energy source of the planet, and the object of every ambition.
Those whom First Light transformed. A fraction of humanity endowed with abilities that escape any scientific explanation.
The corporation that built its empire on Radianite and covers three quarters of global energy needs. Behind the facade, grey areas.
The clandestine organization founded by former Kingdom staff and military experts, and the point around which the whole story turns.
The parallel world and its VALORANT Legion, mirror of the Protocol. Familiar and deeply different at the same time.
The object at the heart of every match, and one of the rare gameplay elements taken directly from the lore.
The chronology of the story does not match the order in which Riot told it. Switch from one to the other to understand why some revelations arrive so late.
An Earth much like ours, with its own geopolitical and energy balances. Nothing hints at the upheaval to come.
A cataclysm of mysterious origin strikes the planet, releasing an unknown energy and fracturing reality itself. The world tips over irreversibly.
Part of humanity develops supernatural abilities. Society splits between fascination and rejection, drawing the first lines of fracture.
The corporation seizes the Radianite market and becomes the dominant economic and political force on a global scale.
Faced with growing threats, a clandestine organization brings together Radiant and non-Radiant agents to protect Alpha Earth.
A detonation strikes Venice. Analysis of the debris points to a device using Radianite, until then presented as a clean and safe energy.
The Protocol locates a second device on a Kingdom site. The agents have to neutralize it, and discover who they are really up against.
The existence of a parallel world, populated by doubles of the agents, is revealed. The VALORANT Legion, mirror of the Protocol, operates there.
The story steps through the mirror and dives into that society where the agents are not seen in the same way.
The two Earths enter open confrontation. The Legion is trying to seize the Radianite of Alpha, the Protocol is trying to contain the threat.
The cinematic that started it all. It establishes the existence of the Spike, the fights between agents, and the first hints of a troubling duplication.
The conflict outgrows individuals and calls for coordination on a large scale. The Protocol takes the shape of the organization we know today.
The turning point. The truth about the Alpha and Omega conflict breaks out, turning a local conflict into an interdimensional war.
The lore takes a leap forward by dropping us straight onto Omega Earth, into a society that is familiar and deeply different.
Riot keeps enriching the storyline every season. This timeline will grow as the analyses are published here.
Riot started by showing an attack in Venice without explaining where the assailants came from. It took Duality to understand that they were doubles from another Earth. The story therefore moves forward through retroactive revelations: every new piece redefines what we thought we knew about the previous ones.
The agents are not simple avatars fitted with abilities. Each one embodies a facet of the conflict, with their allegiances, their grey areas and their contradictions. They are often the way into the lore.
The tension between Radiants and non-Radiants runs through the whole story. The first are both indispensable assets and sources of mistrust; the second make up for it with technology and expertise, without always granting blind trust. That dynamic creates friction inside the Protocol itself.
Loyalties are far from simple. Some agents have a past tied to Kingdom. Others carry secrets that could blow apart the cohesion of the group. And the existence of doubles from Omega raises dizzying questions about identity and responsibility.
The clandestine organization founded by former Kingdom employees and military experts. Its mission: to protect the Earth from the threats bearing down on it, whether they are internal or interdimensional.
The mirror organization, operating from the parallel world with alternate versions of the same individuals. Same faces, diverging goals.
The ones who go in first. Often the youngest of the Protocol, and the most impulsive.
The ones who see before the others. Several carry a past in intelligence work or manhunts.
The ones who shape the ground. Among them, the founders of the Protocol and former Kingdom staff.
The ones who protect. The role with the most former Kingdom employees who have since moved on.
The maps are not only combat arenas. They are silent chapters: Kingdom posters, traces of destruction linked to Radianite, architecture that tells a place before and after First Light.
ASCENT
The site of the detonation that opens the story. The tears in the sky above the square bear witness to massive Radianite activity.
BIND
The Kingdom site where the Protocol steps in during Duality. The reactor of site A holds a form of overheated Radianite.
CORRODE
A French castle turned into a radianite salt operation, on the Omega Earth side. One of the most telling places of the multiverse.
