Vyse

The collector with the metal bindings

“Metal remembers the shape it is given. So will you.”

Vyse, a Valorant agent
Vyse

THE STORY OF VYSE

Vyse is one of the most enigmatic agents of the VALORANT Protocol. Neither her real name nor her country of origin has been made public, a deliberate choice on her part that keeps the mystery around her person and her motives alive.

Her power rests on the manipulation of a liquid metal she shapes at will: cutting vines, walls bursting from the ground, blinding mechanical roses. Where other agents use technology or raw Radianite, Vyse sculpts matter like an artist, with cold precision and an aesthetic you would recognize anywhere.

An obsessive collector, she is fascinated by rare objects and by the idea of owning what others covet. That obsession carries into her gameplay: her ultimate, Steel Garden, kills nobody, it confiscates the weapons of her opponents, leaving them bare in front of her. A very personal way of reminding everyone who controls the ground.

VYSE'S ABILITIES

C

Razorvine

Vyse launches an invisible nest of liquid metal that, once activated, sprawls into razorvines that slow and damage the players who move through them.

Q

Shear

Vyse places a hidden trap on a wall; when an enemy crosses it, an indestructible wall bursts from the ground behind them for a brief moment.

E

Arc Rose

Vyse places a stealthed rose that she can activate to blind everyone looking at it; it can be picked up and redeployed.

X

Steel Garden

Vyse releases a torrent of metal thorns around her that, after a brief windup, jams the primary weapons of the enemies caught inside.

HOW TO PLAY VYSE

01
Shear cuts executes in half

The Shear wall only triggers when an enemy crosses it. Place it in an entry corridor: when the opponent rushes, the first player goes through, the wall rises, and the rest of the team is cut off. You turn a 5v5 into five separate duels.

02
Arc Rose: two flashes for the price of one

Many players forget that the Arc Rose can be recovered after use. Place it on a wall on defense, use it to slow the first take, then reuse it for the retake. That is two free flashes per round if you are patient.

03
Razorvine covers the dead zones

You cannot cover a whole site alone. Use the Razorvine on the angle you are not watching: the slow and the damage give you time to react to the sound. It is your alarm and your trap in a single ability.

04
Steel Garden wins retakes, not defenses

Do not waste your ultimate delaying an entry. Keep it for the retake after a plant: five enemies stripped of their primary weapon on a site is a round won even when outnumbered.

THE VALORANT SENTINELS

ROLE: SENTINEL

Experts in defense and area lockdown. Seven agents built to hold a site, watch the flanks and make the enemy pay dearly for every meter they take.

EVERYTHING ABOUT VYSE IN VALORANT

Vyse is the most recent sentinel on the Valorant roster, added in August 2024. What sets her apart is a kit built entirely around the manipulation of liquid metal, with abilities that trigger in reaction to enemy movement rather than on your direct command. That delayed trap logic clearly distinguishes her from Cypher or Killjoy, whose setups are more static. Her Steel Garden ultimate, which disables primary weapons over a wide area, is one of the most decisive abilities in the game during a retake. Vyse takes some getting used to, but rewards players able to anticipate enemy paths.

Vyse sits at a medium difficulty level. Her abilities require no lineups to memorize, which makes her more accessible than Viper or Chamber. On the other hand, getting the most out of her kit means understanding where the opponent is going to pass, since Shear and Razorvine trigger on enemy movement. A beginner can play her without feeling lost, but will mostly progress as their map knowledge sharpens. For a first sentinel, Sage remains simpler.

Steel Garden makes primary weapons unusable for every enemy within a wide radius for a few seconds. The classic mistake is using it on defense to delay an entry, which wastes its potential. The best use is the retake after a plant: by stripping several opponents of their rifles at once, you turn an unfavorable situation into a clear advantage. Coordinate it with the entry of your team to maximize the window.

Cypher relies on passive information, with cameras and wires that reveal positions. Killjoy actively controls a zone with her turret and her swarms, dealing damage. Vyse plays on movement denial: her vines slow, her wall bursts up to cut a team in two, and her ultimate confiscates weapons. She brings less raw information than Cypher but more physical disruption. The three complement each other well on the same map depending on the enemy composition.

Riot Games has deliberately revealed neither the real name of Vyse nor her country of origin, which makes her one of the most mysterious agents on the roster. What is known comes down to her nature: she manipulates a liquid metal she shapes at will, and she is described as a collector obsessed with rare objects and with possession. That trait is reflected in her ultimate, which literally deprives her opponents of their weapons rather than eliminating them.
